Talk to your audience
June 4, 2008
I quite like the idea of letting viewers listen to what you’re saying. I know this post should have an option to do that, but I haven’t recorded it yet so I can’t add it.
But generally, it gives people more choice. Especially for a longish post it can be beneficial to listen to it rather than read it. You can get a lot more of the sense of what the author was trying to say, if he speaks to you. The written word can’t always convey that emotion accurately.
At least, not for the average person doing the writing. Some people are very skilled at it, but most of us are just ok at it.
I use Podpress for my own embedded audios. It’s so easy to use and as a free plugin anyone can try it out. We all like a sense of connection with other people. Speaking to your visitors helps to encourage that.
Blog your way to profit
June 3, 2008
I have several blogs and for a while I have wondered whether to link to them from each other, or re-use content from one on some of the others.
Blogging is a great way to make a profit, but keeping up with the amount of content creation you need can be difficult. That’s why the idea of re-using your own content, or somebody else’s sometimes, with permission, is so appealing.
However, there’s often talk about a ‘duplicate content penalty’ that Google supposedly slap on you if they find that you’re not producing totally 100% unique content.
Pretty much pure myth, but most people believe it. In fact most people believe it without having any idea why. They haven’t done any research into it. They hear ‘facts’ proclaimed in emails and forums and there’s usually no evidence to back up the point of view - just loud argument.

Q10 Review
June 3, 2008
No, it’s not actually an enzyme. Well, not in this case anyway.
Q10 is the name given to what I believe is a brilliant little piece of software. It’s pretty old-fashioned, many would say, but that’s really where its power comes from.
Do you do any writing? Do you create articles, for article marketing for example?
What do you use to create them? Word? Notepad?
I’ve just found a link to a site giving away a very simple text editor. Frankly, it’s so simple it virtually does nothing. BUT that is its great power.
